Jaroslav Moravčík

A prominent Slovak choreographer and director, a graduate from the Dance Department of the Conservatory in Bratislava and in choreography from the Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. He started his professional career as a dancer in the SĽUK folkloric group, later he worked there in the position of choreographer, head of the dance group and the Chairman of the Artistic Board. He made for the SĽUK 8 feature programs. He worked as the head of ballet in Morbisch in Austria. He was also the founder and the artistic head of the artistic group Sluka. He was also at the birth of the Slovak Chamber Ballet. He holds several prestigious awards for his choreographic and directorial output. He cooperates with many professional dance and theater groups and his choregraphies became also a pillar of big entertainment shows of the Slovak TV and Czech TV and film. Currently he works as a freelance artist and he is the head of the "Atašé" dance group, focused on the modern acoustic and dance shows.

The choreography of Jaroslava Moravčíka has the hallmarks of his creation: distinctive choice of movements, humor, and exceptional sense of rhythm, dynamics and dance expression. He is fond of using props as well as unconventional choreographic procedures.
